Matter Wave

Vivian Beer, a native of Bar Harbor, is known for her metal work and contemporary designs. This particular stainless steel sculpture is referred to by the artist as a 鈥渂ench鈥 and is designed to hold a seated person. A project of the State of Maine Percent for Art Program, Matter Wave was the choice of art related to the 2015 laboratory renovations of Aubert Hall. The University鈥檚 Office of Facilities Management designed and installed the charcoal tinted concrete base. Among the venues for Beer鈥檚 work are Boston鈥檚 Museum of Fine Arts, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and Winslow Park in Portland, Maine.
