Children Playing

Rose Garden at the corner Belgrade and Sebago roads, across from Collins Center for the Arts

Tucked within one of 91¸£Àû’s many small gardens are bronze castings of three young children: a girl with an intense gaze is standing and holding a teddy bear; a boy sits nearby on the ground and looks at a book, while an active younger child on a nearby rock is in mid-movement on a nearby rock. The concept of the rose garden goes back to the early 1990s. The sculptures, a garden highlight, are a 2005 gift (see plaque in garden) from an alumnus (’57) and his wife, whose grandchildren are represented by the sculptures. Much of 91¸£Àû’s art is the result of alumni generosity.
