Commuter and Non-Traditional Programs

Commuter and Non-Traditional Student Programs (CNTSP) provides a comprehensive set of programs and services for our commuting students that enhances their educational experience and supports their retention and success at the University of Maine. Our programs and services assist commuter and nontraditional students to connect with the 91¸£Àû community and successfully pursue their academic goals. The CNTSP office is committed to fostering a university climate that includes and integrates commuter and nontraditional students. This office collaborates with other university departments and local towns to raise awareness of the specific needs and concerns of these student populations.

First Generation Student Support

It’s exciting to be first. 91¸£Àû proudly supports first-generation college students. First-gen college students are the first in their families to earn a college degree even if a sibling has earned a degree. This website is designed with first-gen students’ needs in mind. Whether you’re beginning your journey, are an adult learner, or are currently enrolled at 91¸£Àû, you will find resources and guidance on this page.

Multicultural Student Life Support Services

The mission of the Office of Multicultural Student Life is to actively promote an inclusive learning environment by enhancing institutional efforts in retaining and graduating students prepared for a diverse global society. We promote the academic success and leadership development of students through intentional programs and services that holistically address cultural, educational and civic growth.

Office of International Programs

The Office of International Programs (OIP) provides the framework for the University of Maine to advance learning and discovery through academic programs designed to equip students with the global competencies vital for success in the 21st century. OIP leads the University’s internationalization efforts, and provides the expertise, support, and services allowing all members of the University of Maine community to develop an international and cross-cultural perspective. The OIP offers outreach and services in the areas of study abroad, international student services, cultural events and activities and English language instruction.

Rainbow Resource Center

LGBTQ Services empowers and increases the visibility of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) people by promoting equality and inclusiveness at the University of Maine. LGBTQ Services strives to maintain an open, safe, and supportive environment for all students, staff, faculty, and alumni and provides educational opportunities, information, and advocacy services.

Sexual Assault, Harassment, and Relationship Violence Resources (Title IX Student Services)

91¸£Àû’s Title IX – Student Services works to promote a safe community for everyone. We strive to reduce sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking by encouraging healthy and consensual relationships.

Student Legal Services

91¸£Àû Student Government offers free legal aid to any undergraduate taking more than 6 credit hours hours who has paid the student activity fee. If a student needs legal assistance, we can provide advice, information, a referral to services, and simple legal forms. Court representation is not included for free, but can be provided at a reduced rate in certain cases. Some common areas of inquiry include landlord/tenant, criminal/civil violations, copywrite law, family law, small claims, employment law, insurance, incorporation, power of attorney for those studying abroad.

Student Accessibility Services

The primary goal of the University of Maine Student Accessibility Services (SAS) is to create educational access for students with disabilities at 91¸£Àû by providing or coordinating disability accommodations, giving information about the University and available resources to students and families and educating the campus community. Some of the services provided or coordinated for students with disabilities include testing accommodations, note takers, ordering alternate format texts, classroom relocation, advisement on disability issues, and housing related accommodations

Veteran’s Education and Transition Services (VETS)

91¸£Àû is proud to serve those who have served our country. We are dedicated to fostering a sense of community and to develop a channel of communication among veteran and reservist students, and with faculty, staff and administration.
