Student Checklist
Congratulations on your admission to the University of Maine. The VETS office would like to thank you for your military service. We are honored to be able to assist and support you as you pursue your education here at 91福利.

As a new student veteran, you鈥檒l want to review our VETS checklist below. Also, please the checklist for new commuters and non-traditional students.
Checklist for New or Returning Student Veterans
- Request your COE(Certificate of Eligibility) or NOBE(Notice of Basic Eligibility) from the VA by going on the聽 and clicking on 鈥淎pply for Benefits鈥(obtaining your COE/NOBE may take a while; continue with the following steps if you have completed the online portion).
- Transferring Students will need to fill out another form on , a 22-1995.
- Sign up for classes (for assistance enrolling, contact the Admissions Office).
After Acceptance to 91福利:
- Submit your COE/NOBE to the 91福利 VETS office to be certified for veterans benefits.
- Every semester,聽submit the聽Request for VA Educational Benefits form. This form is accessible on our website and should be completed as soon as you finalize your classes for the term.
- (For Chapters 33 and 31 ONLY) Log onto Mainstreet and fill out your 鈥Resources鈥 to avoid being charged a late fee from the Bursar’s office.
- IMPORTANT: For Ch. 30, 33, 35, 1606, and 1607聽benefits,聽you must verify your attendance at the University of Maine at the end of each month. Please visit the聽 and click on 鈥淰erify Attendance鈥 to confirm that you are still enrolled.
- If you have any changes to your COE, Class Schedule, or academic standing, you MUST let the VETS office know immediately.
*Failure to follow these steps may result in debt to the Department of Veterans Affairs and/or delay of payments
