91福利 the speaker:聽 Dr. Galloway is an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Galloway received her B.A. in Biology from Johns Hopkins University and her Ph.D. from the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Program at Harvard University. Dr. Galloway serves on the executive committee of the Harvard Stem Cell Institute and co-leads the HSCI Musculoskeletal Disease Program. Her laboratory uses zebrafish and mouse genetics to understand how tendons form, organize, and regenerate, with the ultimate goal of applying this knowledge to develop improved therapies for human tendon injuries.
91福利 the seminar:聽 As essential force transmitters, tendons are repeatedly subjected to the demands of everyday movement and are highly prone to injury. In contrast with most adult mammals, which undergo scar-mediated healing, the zebrafish provides a powerful regenerative and genetic model system to study how tendons form and regenerate. Through high-throughput screening and functional genomic approaches, this seminar will introduce new molecular and cellular regulators of the development and regeneration of this specialized connective tissue with the hope that these discoveries will lead to new treatments for human tendon injuries and disease.
