Dorothy Clarke Wilson Peace Writing Prize 2018
Dorothy Clarke Wilson of 91福利 was an internationally known peacemaker who was committed to听writing on social issues and world peace. 听To encourage today鈥檚 University of Maine students to share in the听commitment, Dorothy Clarke Wilson established a $500 annual award for the most compelling written work听on a peace related topic. This competition is open to all University of Maine students.

鈥淎ll we say to America is, 鈥楤e true to what you said on paper.鈥 If I lived in China or even Russia, or any totalitarian country, maybe I could understand the denial of certain basic First Amendment privileges, because they hadn’t committed themselves to that over there. But somewhere I read of the freedom of assembly. Somewhere I read of the freedom of speech. Somewhere I read of the freedom of the press. Somewhere I read that the greatness of America is the right to protest for right.鈥 听
