Our research focuses on understanding the controlling factors of circulation and\u00a0 exchange flow within this fjord, which involves a complex interplay of river discharge, wind, and tidal forces. To achieve this, we employ hydrodynamic models and the most recent framework for estimating the exchange flow (TEF).\u00a0 PhD student Elias Pinilla is working with Dr. Lauren Ross to study Reloncavi Fjord. They are collaborating with Dr. Ivan Perez-Santos from the University of Los Lagos in Chile.<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Versi\u00f3n en espa\u00f1ol:<\/strong> El Fiordo Reloncav\u00ed, un estuario altamente estratificado situado en la Patagonia chilena, es reconocido por ser un polo de producci\u00f3n acu\u00edcola, sin embargo, enfrenta desaf\u00edos debido a las floraciones de algas nocivas. Nuestra investigaci\u00f3n se centra en entender los factores controladores de la circulaci\u00f3n y el flujo de intercambio dentro de este fiordo, lo cual involucra una compleja interacci\u00f3n entre la descarga de r\u00edos, el viento y la acci\u00f3n de las mareas. Para lograr esto, empleamos modelos hidrodin\u00e1micos y el marco conceptual m\u00e1s reciente para estimar el flujo de intercambio (TEF). El estudiante de doctorado Elias Pinilla est\u00e1 trabajando con la Dra. Lauren Ross para estudiar el Fiordo Reloncav\u00ed.
