A variety of projects were presented via talks and posters.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Undergraduate participants representing VEMI included:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Toni Kaplan<\/strong> and <strong>Amy-Fortier Brown<\/strong>, with<em>\u00a0Evaluation of Virtual Reality Simulation as a Supplemental Treatment in Cases of Seasonal Affective Disorder<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Brenden Peters<\/strong>, with\u00a0<em>Dynamic Motion Control: Networked Control Software and Expanded Physical Capabilities for Virtual Environment Motion Feedback Devices<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Scott Richards<\/strong>, with\u00a0<em>Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy for Veterans with PTSD<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Graduate participants included:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christopher Bennett<\/strong>, with\u00a0<em>Do Cognitive Maps Decay With Age?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hari Palani<\/strong>, with\u00a0<em>Multimodal Access to Graphical Information for Blind and Visually-Impaired people using Touchscreen-based Devices<\/em><\/p>\n<p>and frequent VEMI volunteer\/collaborator <strong>Stacy Doore<\/strong>\u00a0with\u00a0<em>A Room with a View: Designing Natural Language Interface Structures for Indoor Scene Description<\/em><\/p>\n<p>While all of the participants did an incredible job with their respective projects, the following received additional recognition in the form of competitive Grad Expo awards:<\/p>\n<p>Best Oral Presentation, Physical Sciences:\u00a0<strong>Stacy Doore<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Runner-Up for Best Oral Presentation, Physical Sciences:\u00a0<strong>Christopher Bennett<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Best Poster, Physical Sciences:\u00a0<strong>Hari Palani<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to all!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The VEMI Lab was well-represented at this year&#8217;s combination Grad Expo and Center For Undergraduate Research Showcase, now called the Student Research Symposium, which was held for the first time on April 26th\u00a0at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
