The work, entitled \u201cCOVID-19 and Visual Disability: Can\u2019t Look and Now Don\u2019t Touch\u201d, builds on a <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@nicholas.giudice\/covid-19-and-blindness-why-the-new-touchless-physically-distant-world-sucks-for-people-with-2c8dbd21de63\">popular medium piece<\/a> Giudice wrote in the summer of 2020. The new piece was published in the <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/33354903\/\">Physical Medicine &amp; Rehabilitation Journal<\/a> and provides a scientific explanation for pandemic-related challenges blind and visually impaired (BVI) people experience. These challenges include spatial cognition, nonvisual information access, and environmental perception.
