With spring finally here and the snow melting, head up to Presque Isle, where there is a lot of local history to immerse oneself in! Many people don&#8217;t know that the first trans-Atlantic hot-air balloon flight took off from Presque Isle in 1978. A monument commemorates the Double Eagle II. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TheJamesSchool\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The James School<\/a> is a one-room schoolhouse built in 1917 that displays the simplicity of life in the early 20th century.<\/p>\n<p>Other sightseeing options include <a href=\"https:\/\/visitmaine.com\/things-to-do\/parks-natural-attractions\/aroostook-state-park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aroostook State Park<\/a> and\u00a0short hiking options on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alltrails.com\/trail\/us\/maine\/haystack-mountain-trail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Haystack Mountain<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mainetrailfinder.com\/trails\/trail\/scopan-mountain-trail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scopan Mountains,<\/a> which offer stunning views of the county.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013<em>A.S.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s finally warming up outside.
