(Aaron S.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>New England Boiled Dinner \u2013<\/strong> <em>Yankee Magazine<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>4 pounds corned beef<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>15 peppercorns<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>8 whole garlic cloves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 bay leaf<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>8 small beets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 turnips, cut into pieces<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>16 small new potatoes, peeled<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>16 baby carrots<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>8 small white onions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 head cabbage, cut into 8 wedge-shaped pieces<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Directions<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Cover beef with water and simmer 10 minutes, covered, in a large kettle. Skim off and discard the residue that forms on top of water. Add peppercorns, cloves, and bay leaf. Cover and simmer 3 hours or until meat is tender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Put beets in separate pan with a little water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until tender, about 30 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Add turnips, potatoes, carrots, and onions to kettle with meat.
