Brown, who was awarded the land for his service during the French and Indian War. Brownfield developed several mills and factories, most of which were destroyed in a large fire in 1947.<\/p>\n<p>As the town rebuilt, it became a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts due to its beautiful mountains, forests, and waters, and convenient located not too far from more populous areas.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brownfield,_Maine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wikipedia<\/a>, &#8220;The population was 1,631 at the\u00a02020 census. Brownfield is home to the\u00a0<a title=\"Stone Mountain Arts Center\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stone_Mountain_Arts_Center\">Stone Mountain Arts Center<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Fun Facts<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Brownfield and the surrounding area was once territory of the Pequawket Abenaki Indians, whose main village was located at what is today Fryeburg. They would travel via the Saco River downstream to the ocean, where they would fish and collect other coastal resources before returning home.
