The town of Hebron (town of hope) was incorporated in 1792. , which has always been a defining institution on the town, was founded in 1804 by Revolutionary War veteran William Barrows. and has educated many influential Americans over the years. Hebron is the birthplace of Maine governor Albion Parris, and home to the tallest American Chestnut tree in the Eastern United States. ()
