Westerly Frontier
Welcome to the Westerly Frontier!
鈥淎 frontier represents uncharted territory. It could be a remote piece of land or a new field of study, but if someone calls it 鈥渢he frontier,鈥 you are challenged to explore it.鈥 (vocabulary.com) Therefore it seemed appropriate to use that word for our DownEast regions.

The DownEast Westerly Frontier includes the towns of Brooklin, Sedgwick and Deer isle. However, this is not a comprehensive list and we will add more towns over time.
Fun facts about the Westerly Frontier area:
- Sedgwick: “In 1789, the town was incorporated as Sedgwick, named after Major Robert Sedgwick, who in 1654 captured nearby Fort Pentagouet (now Castine) from the French.”
- “In the 19th century, the granite industry flourished on Deer Isle where its quarries supplied granite for structures such as the听听, the听, the听, the听听and at President听‘s听听at听.” (Wikipedia)
