    • Directions: “turn east onto Front Street approximately 1.1 miles north of the US Route 1 and ME Route 214 intersection (opposite the Crossroads Restaurant and Motel). Go 0.5 miles until Front Street ends at Old County Road and turn left on Old County Road. In 0.1 mile turn left onto Hersey Road and continue on Hersey Road 1.0 mile to a sharp left-hand bend from where the trail leaves just to the east of a private driveway. Parking is on the shoulder of the road.”

    • In 2001, a Fox reality TV show called Murder in Small Town X was filmed in Eastport, Maine about a dinner murder mystery with contestants who had to collect clues from actor “townspeople” to solve the murder. The fisherman statue was made for the show, and although it was cut from the show’s budget the statue was made anyway and became an Eastport classic for various reasons, including its goofiness and symbolism. The winner of the show, Ángel Jarbe, Jr., a Bronx firefighter, was killed in the World Trade Center on September 11, one week after the series finale so the statue is also a memorial for Mr. Juarbe.
