This idea came about from when researchers in the 1960\u2019s looked at the ways in which television affected people\u2019s views of the world around them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think moving this theory further forward into the modern age will help us understand the world of social media, as it helped researchers back in the 60\u2019s understand the impact media have on the world,\u201d says Reese.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s important that we continue to question how social media is influencing us in ways we might not be aware of.
