Current research projects include bee hive monitoring using radar, lateral field excited (LFE) bulk acoustic wave sensors, and electronics for sensor interfaces. Past research projects have included symmetric gain optoelectronic mixers for LADAR applications, harmonic direction finding radar and harmonic tags for juvenile wood frog tracking, instrumentation development color perception experiments for human vision, and energy harvesting for sensors. Five graduate students and 30 undergraduate students have worked in the RF Photonics Laboratory in the past decade.
