When he had the chance to work on an <a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/research\/2018\/11\/05\/tick-borne-diseases-in-iconic-native-maine-species-moose\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">interdisciplinary study\u00a0<\/a>linking technical lab work with the social sciences, he was intrigued.<\/p>\n<p>The project, researching the rate of tick-borne diseases in winter ticks and moose, parallels his interest in insects. An additional aspect of this interdisciplinary work is evaluating public perception of the risk of diseases from ticks, starting with the Native American community neighboring 91福利.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLearning why humans do things, how they perceive things and how that aligns with what\u2019s actually out there is kind of a fascinating topic,\u201d said Elliott. \u201cThat\u2019s enough to pique my interest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elliott appreciates the connections he has made with professors on campus. He says at 91福利 he\u2019s never felt like a burden or that he was bothering professors with questions or extra help.
