The following message was sent via email to all University of Maine employees on June 14, 2023 by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Dean of the Graduate School.<\/em><\/p>\n

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has recently updated their requirements for Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training.\u00a0<\/strong>A full summary of these changes is available in the\u00a0Spring 2023 Research Compliance Newsletter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The key change for researchers to be aware of is that\u00a0all faculty and other senior personnel supported by NSF must now complete\u00a0RCR\u00a0training every 4 years<\/strong>\u00a0(for new proposals submitted or due on or after July 31, 2023). Subject faculty and senior personnel can fulfill this requirement via Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative\u2019s (CITI) \u201cGeneral\u00a0RCR\u00a0Course\u201d (see\u00a0Instructions for CITI Training [PDF]<\/a>), or\u00a0INT 601<\/a>\u00a0or another\u00a0approved alternate\u00a0RCR\u00a0course<\/a>. (Note: this new requirement is in addition to NSF’s prior\u00a0RCR\u00a0training requirement for undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers.)<\/p>\n
