Controlled substances are chemicals that may be addictive, abused and illegal without proper licensing and registration. The United States Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulates licensing, registration, storage, security, use, and disposal requirements of controlled substances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An alphabetical list of all controlled substances can be found in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov\/schedules\/orangebook\/c_cs_alpha.pdf\">DEA Orange Book (PDF) (external link)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Regulation of Controlled Substances<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Controlled Substances Act (CSA) places all substances which are in some manner regulated under existing federal law into one of five schedules. This placement is based upon the substance\u2019s medical use, potential for abuse, and safety or dependence liability.
