Unaffiliated Researcher Recruiting on the University of Maine (UM) and/or the University of Maine at Machias (UMM) Campuses
An unaffiliated researcher who has Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval from their home institution and wishes to recruit UM/UMM faculty, staff, and/or students must request permission from the UM IRB before recruiting participants.
The unaffiliated researcher should contact the Office of Research Compliance (ORC) at umric@maine.edu.
The email request to ORC must include the following:
- The IRB approval letter from the home institution.
- The approved IRB application and the approved consent form(s), recruitment materials (flyers, emails etc.), and measures (surveys, interview questions, etc.) that will be used.
- Evidence of human subjects training.
The IRB will review the documentation and inform the researcher via email of their decision.
