report<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>An audience of twenty people braved&nbsp;drenching rains and high winds to attend a special evening event in the New Writing Series on April 16th, 2007. Poet Rosanna Warren drew from her recent Norton volume, <em>Departure<\/em>, in the first part of her set, then shifted to uncollected works such as \u201cMan in Stream,\u201d three poems from the sequence \u201cMistral,\u201d two from the \u201cAnne Verveine\u201d sequence, and a poem about the experience of schizophrenia, \u201cFear,\u201d in the latter part of the set. Her reading was followed by an informative question and answer session in which the poet discussed&nbsp;Fernando Pessoa\u2018s work, her experiment in heteronymity&nbsp;with the \u201cAnne Verveine\u201d poems, the strong reaction of a&nbsp;<em>New Yorker<\/em>&nbsp;reader to her poem \u201cNightshade,\u201d the political underpinnings of the Virgilian pastoral, and contemporary American lyric poetry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Warren\u2019s visit to 91¸£Àû was sponsored by the&nbsp;Phi Beta Kappa Society, at whose year-end&nbsp;initiation ceremony&nbsp;Warren had spoken earlier on the same day about the relationship of the visual arts to poetic practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the full photoset, visit our Flickr page <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/thirdfactory\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Event report An audience of twenty people braved&nbsp;drenching rains and high winds to attend a special evening event in the New Writing Series on April 16th, 2007.
