{"id":579,"date":"2016-10-20T11:01:26","date_gmt":"2016-10-20T15:01:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/umaine.edu\/pagefarm\/?post_type=tribe_events&amp;p=579"},"modified":"2016-10-20T11:01:26","modified_gmt":"2016-10-20T15:01:26","slug":"wreathmaking-workshop-5","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/pagefarm\/event\/wreathmaking-workshop-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Wreathmaking Workshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0annual wreath-making workshops will be held this year on Saturday, Nov. 25, from 11-1 and again 5-7; Tuesday, Nov 28, from 5-7 p.m.; and Thursday, Nov. 30 from 6-8 p.m., offering participants an opportunity to enjoy a hands-on start to the holiday season.<\/p>\n<p>Local wreath-wrapper, James Smith and Museum Director,\u00a0Patricia Henner,\u00a0who has been conducting wreath workshops at the museum for over\u00a010 years, will offer both novice and expert wreath-makers the materials and instruction necessary to take home a decorative wreath to last for months.<\/p>\n<p>An $20 charge covers the cost of materials \u2014 one 12-inch ring, balsam fir, arborvitae and white pine boughs, pine cones, reindeer moss and ribbon to make a bow (with instruction). \u00a0Feel free to bring natural decorations from your own yard to add to your special, one-of-a-kind wreath.<\/p>\n<p>Because space limits participation to 14 people for each of the \u00a0workshops, the Museum encourages early registration. \u00a0These workshops always fill up quickly.<\/p>\n<p>For people who wish to buy a locally made holiday wreath, The museum will be selling completed wreaths beginning Nov. 18 for $25, proceeds are used to\u00a0support the non-profit Museum&#8217;s educational programs. The prepared wreaths are made at the Museum with five pounds of fresh, fragrant and hand-wrapped fir bough tips and are decorated with pine cones, berries and ribbon.
