Have you longed to make a hand-knit Icelandic sweater, but felt daunted by the size of the project? The solution is simple: Think small! At this workshop, Kate Busko, who has lived and knitted in Iceland, will share the steps to creating your very own mini-Icelandic sweater in just a couple of hours. You can use your mini-Icelandic sweater to dress a favorite little teddy bear, adorn a keyring, or display as seasonal decoration. Bring your own tools and materials or use some of ours (see list below). Light refreshments provided. Important: if you plan to come, so we’ll be sure to have enough supplies, snacks, and staff on hand.
Skills Required: Basic knit stitch, cast-on, bind-off
What to Bring: Double-pointed needles size US 2 or 3 (3mm or 3.5mm)
Scrap yarn of worsted or Aran weight. (We’ll have extra yarn and needles available for those who need them.)
Suggested Donation: $10 to support the Maine Day Meal Packout, a campus volunteer project that provides tens of thousands of meals for Maine neighbors in need. Your $10 donation is enough to provide 25 meals. Last year, MDMP volunteers provided 80,000 meals to local food pantries and food banks!
