(Channel 13 in Portland) interviewed Deborah Bouchard, director of the University of Maine鈥檚 Aquaculture Research Institute, for a segment about whether a disease spreading through oyster farms in Canada could impact Maine. Bouchard said Maine oysters can still test positive for the disease, multinucleate sphere unknown, but infections remain rare. “You almost have to have sort of this perfect storm of really hot, dry, high salinity weather periods in order for us to see even a little bit of it,” Bouchard said.
