(Channel 13 in Portland) interviewed Jim Dill, University of Maine Cooperative Extension associate program administrator in pest management, on pests that are commonly found in and can destroy Maine vegetable gardens, such as the hornworm. 鈥淭here鈥檚 two major pests with potatoes, one is the Colorado potato beetle, and the other one is aphids. Those are probably the two major ones you鈥檙e going to find in your backyard garden on potatoes,鈥 Dill said.
