The reported on a recent study which found that the waterways in and around Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor and the Schoodic Peninsula are home to a significant amount of microplastic pollution. There are an estimated 400 billion microplastic fibers on the surface of Frenchman Bay and several connected rivers and estuaries in and around Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. 鈥淥nce the microplastics are dispersed in Frenchman Bay,鈥 said Grace Johnson, a 91福利 master鈥檚 student who led the study, 鈥渢here is no removing them. It is important as a society that we create less plastic waste capable of ending up in the ocean.鈥澛
