interviewed University of Maine associate professor of animal and veterinary sciences Robert Causey for an article titled, 鈥淢ore than half of pet owners don鈥檛 believe in vaccinating their animals.鈥 Causey said vaccines strengthen a pet鈥檚 immunity against serious, potentially fatal diseases that can be contracted from exposure to other animals in boarding kennels or pet shops. 鈥淰accines also provide protection against wildlife-borne diseases, such as rabies, and environmental disease such as tetanus,鈥 he said.
