The and (CBS 5 in Bangor) reported that University of Maine President Joan Ferrini-Mundy moderated a book talk for 鈥淚n Other Words, Leadership: How a Young Mother鈥檚 Weekly Letters to Her Governor Helped Both Women Brave the First Pandemic Year,鈥 written by Shannon A. Mullen, at the Bookspace in downtown Bangor. The book features handwritten letters between Maine Gov. Janet Mills and Ashirah Knapp, a constituent who wrote the governor letters through the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ferrini-Mundy said she鈥檚 grateful for the reflective novel because now it puts current days in a different perspective. 鈥淔or me reading the book made it clear that the pandemic is not behind us, the book just brings it all back and then it causes at least for me some reflection on what the world is like right now,” Ferrini-Mundy said.聽
