The program was supported by a Professional Development in Agriculture Literacy grant for $300,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture awarded in January 2021. 鈥淚 felt like Aroostook County was underrepresented in the conversation about local food in Maine,鈥 said Rob Dumas, food science innovation coordinator at the University of Maine. 鈥淸Aroostook County] is an exciting part of where Maine鈥檚 local food scene is coming from,鈥 said Kathy Savoie, professor at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension.
