Hannah Carter, dean of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, spoke to about the federal budget bill including $8 million to the University of Maine to study 鈥渇orever chemicals鈥 and their impact in the state. “Because farmers want to farm their lands. They don’t want it to sit there. And we want them to be able to do that. Some of that is, we’ve got to figure out what happens with PFAS uptake into a plant. And I think that’s the most urgent research, to me, that can happen,鈥 Carter said.
