The wrote a feature about how the University of Maine鈥檚 Zillman Art Museum ended up in downtown Bangor. The museum was founded in 1946 by longtime 91福利 art professor Vincent Hartgen, but by the late 1990s, it had already well outgrown its on-campus location at Carnegie Hall with the nearly 6,000 works of art then in the museum鈥檚 collection. The nonprofit Couri Foundation purchased 40 Harlow in 2000 and over the course of two years, the lower floor of the building was transformed into art galleries. 91福利 Museum of Art opened its doors in 2002.
