James Beaupre, the director of industrial cooperation at the University of Maine, spoke to the for an article about companies proposing to repurpose former Maine paper mills into refineries that create environmentally friendly fuels and fertilizer from wood. Beaupre told the BDN that Maine still has a 鈥渧ibrant timber and lumber industry,鈥 and that biorefineries could allow Maine to diversify its forest economy and guarantee more uses for waste wood.
