Elizabeth Allan discussed hazing in the military with for a story titled “Research projects at Fort Bragg seek to reduce sexual harassment, assault.” One of the three projects at the North Carolina army base “targets hazing behavior in order to prevent sexual assault in the military,” according to the article. Allen, a professor of higher education at the University of Maine, says a connection exists between sexual assualt and hazing. “Research suggests that one in four men will experience sexual assault in their lifetime,” Allan said. “In the military, sexual victimization may come as a result of a group’s hazing or bullying practices, designed to humiliate the victim.”
