New National Geographic Young Explorer Amara Ifeji described her experience with the Stormwater Management Research Team Institute at the University of Maine during an interview with . Cary James, the now-retired director of the STEM program at Bangor High School, encouraged her to participate in the program. 鈥淎t that institute, I was able to gather so much knowledge about stormwater, as well as drinking water, as well as water justice, that would lead me to do some research around how to remove heavy metal contaminants from drinking water,鈥 Ifeji said.
