What you present in a peer conference may be very different from how you tell that same story to a television audience. Frank Ferrel, awardwinning writer, producer and director of the SSI science series, Sustainable Maine, takes us behind the scenes to illustrate just what it takes to present a complex research project to a lay viewing television audience. Together with videographer, Brett Plymale, they will demystify their jargon and discuss the use of visual techniques and storytelling tools using video examples and hands-on demonstrations of interview techniques.<\/p>\n<p>Documentary producer, <strong>Frank Ferrel<\/strong> may best be known to 91¸£Àû researchers as the writer, director and producer<br \/>of the Emmy-nominated science series, Sustainable Maine, produced in cooperation with the Sustainable Solutions<br \/>Initiative and ME EPSCoR and broadcast on MPBN television. Ferrel worked full time for MPBN for 9 years where he<br \/>was host and producer of the weekly talk show series Conversations with Maine. Prior to this assignment, he was Series<br \/>Producer of the station\u2019s flagship series, Made in Maine. He has received an Emmy and two Telly awards for his work at<br \/>MPBN along with numerous additional Emmy nominations.<\/p>\n<p>Videographer <strong>Brett Plymale<\/strong> worked on virtually all of the Sustainable Maine series.
