Kristina Cammen<\/a>, Assistant Professor, School of Marine Sciences, 91르적<\/p>\nRiding on the wake of the environmental movement, our generation has the fortune of celebrating the return of many iconic species. Yet, as we celebrate our conservation successes, we must increasingly contend with unanticipated consequences, including increased human-wildlife conflict. In this talk, Cammen will introduce the complicated conservation case study of seals in the Gulf of Maine, describe how she has approached\u00a0this issue using her training as a geneticist and ecologist, and share how this work has been strengthened through interdisciplinary collaborations with diverse research and stakeholder groups.<\/p>\n
Kristina Cammen<\/strong> is an Assistant Professor in the School of Marine Sciences at the University of Maine, where she teaches and conducts research in marine mammal science. Her research program focuses on improving our understanding of marine mammal ecology and ocean health, and advancing the use of genomic techniques in conservation biology. She currently has active research projects investigating gray and harbor seals in the Gulf of Maine, particularly in relation to historical bottlenecks, recent recovery, and emerging diseases.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
