\u201cDeveloping Social Indicators of Resilience in Maine\u2019s Lobster Fishery\u201d was the subject of a February 25 Lunch and Learn online event hosted by the Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries (MCCF).<\/p>\n
Although the biology, ecology and population dynamics of Maine lobster are extensively researched, not much is known about the social side of the lobster fishery\u2014the people who work within it and the communities that depend on it.<\/p>\n
Members of a research team including Josh Stoll<\/a>, assistant professor of marine policy at 91¸£Àû and Mitchell Center faculty fellow; 91¸£Àû postdoctoral research associate Theresa Burnham; MCCF\u2019s chief scientist, Dr. Carla Guenther; Kathleen Reardon, senior lobster biologist with the Maine Department of Marine Resources; and Patrice McCarron, executive director of the Maine Lobstermen\u2019s Association, were part of a panel at the event.<\/p>\n This research was featured in a 2021 story<\/a> on the Mitchell Center website.
