\"ClamTwenty-five\u00a0undergraduate and recent post-baccalaureate students from the University of Maine, University of Southern Maine and 10 other\u00a0institutions shared the results of their summer marine research on Aug. 10 in the\u00a0virtual\u00a02021 University of Maine\u00a0SEA Fellows Symposium<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The SEA Fellows program is coordinated by 91르적\u2019s Darling Marine Center and the Downeast Institute, which serves as the 91르적 Machias marine field station. Students from across Maine collaborate with world-class marine scientists to conduct relevant research. This year the topics included deep sea coral biology, the microorganisms that fuel coastal ecosystem\u00a0productivity, the ecology of lobsters, clams and oysters, and interdisciplinary fisheries and aquaculture-related research.<\/p>\n

Darling Marine Center Director Heather Leslie<\/a>, Damian Brady<\/a>, and master\u2019s students Sarah Risley<\/a> and Struan Coleman<\/a>, participated in research projects.\u00a0Leslie and Brady are Mitchell Center faculty fellows, and Risley and Coleman have participated in the Mitchell Center project Strengthening Coastal Economies<\/a>.<\/p>\n
