The guide was created by <a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/mitchellcenter\/2017\/03\/06\/waste-not-want-not\/\">Brie Berry<\/a>, a Ph.D. candidate in anthropology and member of the Mitchell Center\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/mitchellcenter\/materials-management\/\">Materials Management<\/a> team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmid the pandemic many organizations don\u2019t know how to continue their work without putting their volunteers and patrons at risk,\u201d Brie says. \u201cI decided to develop this guide to make it easier for people to assess risk and think creatively about how to reopen during this time. I\u2019d hate to see these reuse organizations shut down, and that is a real risk right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sunjournal.com\/2020\/10\/08\/guide-assists-community-reuse-organizations-on-reopening-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seacoastonline.com\/lifestyle\/20200928\/new-guide-assists-community-reuse-organizations-on-reopening-during-covid-19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Seacoastonline.com<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fosters.com\/lifestyle\/20200928\/new-guide-assists-community-reuse-organizations-on-reopening-during-covid-19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fosters.com<\/a> shared a media release about the guide.
