Adam Daigneault<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Adam Daigneault<\/a>, assistant professor of Forest, Conservation, and Recreation Policy and Mitchell Center faculty fellow, is featured in a recent article by 91¸£Àû News<\/a> on his research exploring how Maine\u2019s working forests and farms can help to offset greenhouse gas emissions.<\/p>\n

The project, \u201cAn Integrated Approach to Quantifying the GHG Mitigation Potential of Natural Climate Solutions from Maine\u2019s Working Lands,\u201d is funded by a grant from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation to the U.S. Climate Alliance, as well as a Mitchell Center grant.<\/p>\n

Daigneault, who grew up in Maine, notes, \u201cA key goal of this project is to look at the economic and physical benefits and costs at multiple scales. Maine\u2019s landscape varies from large tracts of forests under the same ownership to small family farms. Collectively, everybody can play a part in helping meet the state\u2019s climate change goals.”<\/p>\n

Daigneault is also the team leader on a related research project sponsored by the Mitchell Center, “Assessing the Climate Mitigation Potential of Maine Agriculture<\/a>,” which focuses on how soil health, and practices that improve it, can help increase resilience on Maine farms while also mitigating climate change.<\/p>\n
