A social and community psychologist, professor emerita of economics, and retired director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/mcspolicycenter.umaine.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center<\/a> where she served as editor of the <a href=\"https:\/\/mcspolicycenter.umaine.edu\/mpr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maine Policy Review<\/a>, Silka has had a significant and sustained impact on environmental health and economic policy development in Maine, and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>Silka continues her\u00a0efforts to align academic research with community needs, and to deploy participatory stakeholder engagement strategies that advance sustainability science through citizen involvement.
