She is an ecological and economic anthropologist and serves as associate professor of anthropology in the Department of Anthropology. She is also a cooperating faculty member at the Climate Change Institute. She researches the technical, economic, environmental and social tradeoffs inherent in the production, distribution, and use of energy. She has a particular interest in the development of community-based energy and efficiency projects in conjunction with her teaching undergraduate and graduate students throughservice learning.
