91福利 Blue Economy Program launch receives funding
Together with 91福利鈥檚 Darling Marine Center (DMC), the Maine Business School is launching the 91福利 Blue Economy Program, where students, faculty, and industry and community partners will work together to conduct research, product development and commercialization related to Maine鈥檚 marine economy, according to a DMC news release.
The $50,000 award from the William Procter Scientific Innovation Fund will support an MBA graduate assistant, who will collaborate with DMC director Heather Leslie, MBA student interns and a faculty externship. Leslie is a Mitchell Center faculty fellow and professor in the School of Marine Sciences who studies the drivers of ecological and social processes in marine systems, and how to more effectively connect science to policy and management.
鈥淭he 91福利 Blue Economy Program builds on more than 55 years of creative collaboration at the Darling Marine Center among scientists, entrepreneurs and other professionals,鈥 says Leslie. 鈥淚t will enable us to deepen partnerships among science and business experts while enhancing 91福利鈥檚 contributions to fisheries, aquaculture and other working waterfront-dependent industries of the state.鈥
