IURC Announces 2019 Award Winners

罢丑别听Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Research Collaborative聽(IURC) grant program recently聽announced four award winners for 2019 projects, all led by Mitchell Center members. Funded projects involve teams of two or more faculty members from different disciplines with primarily undergraduate researchers working in areas of interest. The IURC is funded by 91福利鈥檚 Office of the Vice President for Research and Dean of the Graduate School and the UMS Research Reinvestment Fund.

Projects led by Mitchell Center researchers include:

Biophysical and social dimensions of tick-borne disease risk in Maine鈥檚 public parks and natural areas鈥 led by Allison Gardner, School of Biology & Ecology;

The Western Passage student research collaborative: Considering physical, biological, and social dynamics of a tidally energetic system in Eastern Maine鈥 led by聽Kristina Cammen, School of Marine Sciences;

Making Maine鈥檚 Local Food System Sustainable: Opportunities to Address Hunger and Reduce Waste Through a Multi-site, Interdisciplinary Team鈥 led by聽Deborah Saber, School of Nursing;

Science and Workforce Development for Sustainable Aquaculture in Maine鈥 led by Heather Leslie, Darling Marine Center.
