Cindy Isenhour Receives 2018聽Outstanding Service/Outreach Award
91福利’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has named associate professor Cindy Isenhour as recipient of the 2018 CLAS聽Outstanding Service/Outreach Award. Isenhour is聽an ecological and economic anthropologist in the Department of Anthropology.
Isenhour is in her fifth year at 91福利 and holds cooperating appointments in the School of Economics, Climate Change Institute and the Mitchell Center for Sustainability Solutions. According to Anthropology Department Chair Greg Zaro, Isenhour’s “record is extraordinary by any measure, but particularly so with respect to the ways in which she seamlessly fuses her research, teaching, and service commitments into a single package focused on the development of more sustainable production-consumption-disposal systems in Maine and beyond. The outcome is a coherent body of work that recognizes service and outreach to be a substantial portion of her professional portfolio.”
Isenhour’s achievement is also recognized by David Hart, Director of the Mitchell Center, who comments, 鈥淚senhour鈥檚 work is squarely focused on understanding and solving sustainability problems that are a major concern of diverse stakeholders in and beyond Maine. Indeed, she鈥檚 among the very best faculty I鈥檝e encountered during my long career in demonstrating the enduring value of the land-grant mission.鈥
