{"id":5620,"date":"2019-10-10T14:23:47","date_gmt":"2019-10-10T18:23:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/mhc\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=5620"},"modified":"2019-10-17T10:22:25","modified_gmt":"2019-10-17T14:22:25","slug":"aydrea-walden-black-girl-in-a-big-dress","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/mhc\/event\/aydrea-walden-black-girl-in-a-big-dress\/","title":{"rendered":"Aydrea Walden, &#8220;Black Girl in a Big Dress&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Rising Tide Center, in collaboration with the Honors College, the Bailey Fund, the Communication and Journalism Department, and the McGillicuddy Humanities Center, presents two unique events with stand-up comedienne Aydrea Walden.<\/p>\n<p>On December 9, beginning at 8PM, Aydrea will perform\u00a0&#8220;a musical one-woman show about a total whitey trapped in a black chick&#8217;s body&#8221; called <em>The Oreo Experience<\/em>. The free event, open to the public, will be held in Minsky Recital Hall.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The afternoon of December 10 at 4PM in Hill Auditorium, Aydrea will host a screening of her successful web-series <em>Black Girl in a Big Dress<\/em>, a show that touches on issues of race and gender, centered around an\u00a0African American Anglophile cosplayer in love with the Victorian Era.
