Presentations topics will include making a living as an author, medical ethics, the Maine Multi-Cultural Center, Peter Archambault (an artist from Madawaska), wedding perfection hysteria, and bacteriophage.<\/p>\n<p>For the big day (<strong>Saturday Feb. 3rd<\/strong>) there are three all day events:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A\u00a0<em><strong>student\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><strong><em>art show<\/em><\/strong> (6-8pm Friday and 10am-2pm Saturday) at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecoespace.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">COESPACE<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>A <em><strong>downtown cultural scavenger hunt\u00a0with prizes<\/strong><\/em> given out at 6pm at\u00a091¸£Àû Museum of Art. Locations include all of our host partners as well as the Rock and Art Shop. (See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/embed?mid=1m9eXeNLu3IhqkwDCigzKF1BfoW7VG-yM&amp;w=640&amp;h=480\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">map<\/a> below.)<\/li>\n<li>A <em><strong>StoryWalk\u00ae* of\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/tilburyhouse.com\/book\/education-and-teaching\/by-subject\/native-american\/kunus-basket\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Kunu&#8217;s Basket<\/strong>: a story from Indian Island<\/em><\/a>, a children&#8217;s book by local author Lee DeCora Francis that can be found in the windows of 15 downtown businesses. Pauleena MacDougall on fiddle, Nancy Neff on accordion, Cathy Segee on flute and whistle, and Daryne Rockett on harp. Performance in the Atrium.<\/li>\n<li>At\u00a0<strong>1:15<\/strong>, check out the\u00a0<strong><em>Grant Workshop<\/em><\/strong>: an informal panel designed to help cultural workers in the arts and humanities to learn about the broad range of grants that are available to provide financial support for public cultural programs. Representatives from the Maine Humanities Council and the Bangor Commission on Cultural Development will discuss their grant programs, will provide tips on what makes a winning application, and will answer audience questions. Located in\u00a0Crofutt\u00a0Room.<\/li>\n<li>Finally at\u00a0<strong>2:15<\/strong>, head over to the\u00a0<em><strong>Oral History Workshop<\/strong><\/em>. Ever wanted to record family or community stories but not sure how to go about it? Join folklore archivist Katrina Wynn and learn the basics of doing oral history recordings. Then starting at\u00a0<strong>3pm<\/strong>\u00a0Katrina will be demonstrating by collecting stories from anyone in the community who\u2019d like to contribute from the prompt: \u201c<strong>What habit, acquisition, or event made you feel like you had become an adult?<\/strong>\u201c. Located in Business Center.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>3:15<\/strong>\u00a0sees programming heading over to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nocturnemdrafthaus.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nocturnem Draft Haus<\/a>, where the focus shifts back to performance with\u00a0<em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pg\/happeningsseries\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Happening Series<\/a>\u00a0Poetry &amp; Prose R<\/strong><\/em><b><i>eading<\/i><\/b>. The Happening Series\u00a0\u201care multi-disciplinary, genre-fluid, and collaborative creative events, curated and facilitated by students at 91¸£Àû and (typically) hosted by the Franco-American Centre. We look to provide a space for dynamic creative performances: writers, dancers, visual artists, musicians, actors, workshop leaders, community engagers, scholars and everything outside and in-between.\u00a0Our events are as dynamic as the content presented \u2013 one night might consist of a poetry reading in tandem with a print installation piece, another might look like an integrated music\/drama performance, and yet another might explore a social engagement workshop.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At\u00a0<strong>5:30<\/strong>, the day wraps up at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/umma.umaine.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">91¸£Àû Museum of Art<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0<em><strong>art &amp; hors d\u2019oeuvres<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0(by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/BasilCreek\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Basil Creek catering<\/a>)\u00a0and a cash bar. UMMA director George Kinghorn will be giving tours of the gallery\u2019s new collections.
