Andrew Epstein<\/a>, Professor and Chair for Graduate Studies at Florida State University, will give a talk on \u201cFence-Sitting Raised to the Level of an Esthetic Ideal:\u00a0John Ashbery<\/a>\u00a0and the Poetics of Middle Age\u201d\u00a0this Thursday\u00a0at\u00a04:30pm<\/strong>\u00a0in Stewart Commons 104. While still a graduate student in 1996, Professor Epstein presented a paper on Frank O\u2019Hara and film in the National Poetry Foundation (NPF) Conference on the\u00a0Poetry & Poetics of the 1950s<\/a>. He\u2019s presented frequently at NPF conferences since and is the author of two studies of post-1945 poetry,\u00a0Beautiful Enemies<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Attention Equals Life<\/a>, both from Oxford University Press. Candidates in the Master\u2019s degree program are especially encouraged to attend Epstein\u2019s presentation.
