In creating this fund, she wanted to highlight the importance of modern language, cultural exploration and the global exchange of ideas, innovation and experiences.&nbsp; She believes that the experience of living in a different country and learning its culture help one transcend ideological boundaries and inform who we become as citizens of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Global Exploration &amp; Language Opportunities Fund<\/strong> was established at the University of Maine Foundation in 2022 with a gift from Charles Ryan \u201984. The Global Exploration Fund provides students opportunities to participate in activities which will expand their global views, ideas, and experiences through international travel with a preference for those wishing to travel to Central and South American countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Fall 2025 <strong>Global Perspectives for Humanities Exploration Award <\/strong>and <strong>Global Exploration &amp; Language Opportunities<\/strong> <strong>Award <\/strong>competitions are now open.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div><i><strong>To apply<\/strong> for the&nbsp;<span class=\"il\">Global<\/span>&nbsp;<span class=\"il\">Perspectives<\/span> for Humanities Explorations Fund Award to support Spring\/Summer 2026 travel plans, please e-mail <a href=\"mailto:mhc@maine.edu\">mhc@maine.edu<\/a> with the following information no later than 5 p.m. on <strong>Friday, December 5, 2025<\/strong>:&nbsp;<\/i><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<p><em>1. Name.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>2. Location of Study Abroad Program for Spring\/Summer 2026.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>3. Explain briefly how an award from the Fund will help you \u201cimmerse yourself in a new culture, new ideas, and fresh perspectives through your international study-abroad experience.\u201d The essay must include a description of proposed work with some academic institution, community group, or government agency during the semester abroad. (no more than 300 words).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Please e-mail all the requested information in the body of an e-mail.&nbsp; Attachments will not be accepted. Only completed applications will be evaluated. Awardees will be notified soon after the deadline.
